Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

The Alberta Immigrant Nomination Program (AINP) is one of many provincial nomination programs (PNPs) available for immigrants to Canada who hope to gain permanent residence status. AINP is made possible through the cooperation of the Government of Alberta and the national agency known as Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The program benefits immigrants by offering a fast track to residency, employment, or both. Meanwhile, it also benefits the province, supporting growth in Alberta’s economic sector by helping to bring qualified, employable immigrants to the region. When an individual is «nominated» through the AINP, they are then invited to apply for permanent residence within the province, together with their spouse or partner and any dependent children.

It is possible to apply for nomination through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program(AINP) based on qualification in any of a number of categories, known as streams. The following AINP streams are currently accepting applications:

The Strategic Recruitment Stream

Skilled and semi-skilled workers in three different categories may be eligible to apply for the strategic recruitment Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program stream. These categories are:Alberta Immigration Canada

— Compulsory and Optional Trades — Individuals who apply for the compulsory and optional trades category are most often temporary foreign workers who possess a trade certificate that was either issued in Alberta or is recognized by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training agency.

— Engineering Occupations — The engineering occupations category is specifically for individuals who work in the field of engineering. Typical applicants have previous experience working in an engineering trade in Alberta.

— Post-Graduate Workers — The post-graduate worker stream is for individuals who have graduated from a Alberta institution of higher learning, possess a Post-Graduate Work Permit, and are currently employed in Alberta.

The Employer-Driven Stream

Similarly, the employer-driven Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program stream consists of three categories:

Skilled Workers — Ideal applicants for the skilled workers category have been offered a permanent, full-time job opportunity by an employer in Alberta with a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

International Graduates —  Individuals may qualify for the international graduates category if they have recently graduated from a Canadian institution, possess a Post-Graduate Work Permit, and have been offered a permanent, full-time job opportunity in an eligible field.

Semi-skilled Workers — Temporary foreign workers may also qualify for this stream, in the semi-skilled workers category, if they are offered a permanent, full-time job opportunity in an eligible field.

The Self-Employed Farmer Stream

In order to apply for this Alberta Immigrant Nominee stream, you must be able to demonstrate that you have both the financial capability and relevant experience to be able to purchase property and establish a farm in the province of Alberta.
